I will be flying United Airlines on my birthday, does anyone know whether I could get a free seat upgrade?

I will be flying United Airlines (international route) on my birthday, I was just wondering if anyone has ever done or tried to do this, if I kindly ask the airline representatives, do I have any chance getting a free seat upgrade to economy plus or even business class maybe?
